"One area where it is necessary to take protective measures if it wants to perpetuate the existence of a particular species or one or more populations of wildlife (marine or terrestrial), resident or migratory, of regional, national or global. The area does not have to be completely natural and may require some modification of habitat if we are to provide near optimal conditions for the species or communities, according to the particular circumstances of each case. The area covered depends on the needs in terms of habitat or other characteristics of the species. However, these usually do not need large areas but relatively small spaces such as nesting sites, wetlands, and lakes appropriate to achieve their goals.
